He he...my hubby's the "typical" dark-skinned Lappish guy, so all year long his skin is always darker than my skin! Enjoy the sun! It's been hot up here as well (almost no wind today). Today it was close to 27'C under the sun. :-D
And many people in Indo (and at least I know it happens in Thailand as well*) are frantically trying to look "whiter". If you go there, you'll find so much skin whitening product and there are many celebrities that have whiter skin. Auuggghhh...societal pressure is really tough esp. on younger people (I never really felt it over there 'coz I had a kind of whiter skin, but my friends who had darker skin felt the pressure indeed).
* Case in point: my Thai Finnish class buddy, who has lovely chocolate skin, once went shopping with me. She found this gorgeous checkered dress that fit her very well, but she was unsure about buying 'coz it was bright yellow/light brown. You see, there's this belief that dark-skinned people shouldn't wear bright colours like that - dunno where the idea originated, but coming from a similar country, I understood why she said something like that. But I felt SO happy when I managed to seduce her to buy it - and she wore it not long after that to the course. :-D And she looked GREAT in it! :-D
Hi Elena, how are you? :) I just got back from Ibiza on Sunday and things are going pretty good with me. Altough, there is a little hole in my heart after a week on the island :D
I found this interesting news article from YLE news. It's in Finnish, so I don't know how much you're able to read it, but basically it's saying that Finnish language is amongst the top8 most difficult languages for English speaking people! The listing is made by the U.S. Foreign Service Institute (FSI).
Check it out here: http://yle.fi/uutiset/maailman_vaikeimmat_kielet_listattu_katso_miten_suomi_sijoittuu/6689352
My point is that: whenever you're struggling with Finnish, just remember this little fact! ;)
Also, I'm soon starting a new blog. I've not yet published anything, but you'll find it from www.fightofthewolves.blogspot.com
I would really be honored, if you could sometimes spare some time to read it! :)
A new Finnish course? Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYes, every day for about a month. I can't wait! :)

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear it's been nice up there, too. Maybe all this sun will darken our skin a little. :)
